What should you consider before buying a soft serve machine?
Work backward from your menu, peak demand, space and utilities to find a machine that fits service.
A soft serve machine can be a strong addition to a menu, but two machines with a similar footprint can support very different operations. The right question is not simply how many cones the machine can make. It is what your guests order, how fast demand arrives and how the team will operate and clean it.
Make those choices before narrowing the models.

Define the menu first
One flavour, two flavours or a twist? Dairy soft serve, frozen yogurt or another product? Decide on the finished portion size and how it will be served. Product compatibility and machine configuration should be checked against the manufacturer rather than assumed from a photo.
Plan for the rush, not the daily average
A machine may handle a day's total sales and still struggle during a short rush. Estimate servings in the busiest 15 to 30 minutes, along with your expected portion size. Discuss recovery and production capacity with the supplier using those numbers.
Check the practical requirements
- Measure the available floor or counter space and access for cleaning.
- Confirm electrical service and the cooling configuration required for the model.
- Plan mix storage, refill frequency and the team's cleaning schedule.
- Consider staff workflow, customer-facing placement and service support.
Where Stoelting fits
Stoelting has countertop and floor models across soft serve and other frozen treat applications. Apex can help compare configurations once your menu, peak volume, utilities and available space are clear.
A soft serve purchase is a menu and throughput decision as much as an equipment decision. Peak demand and operating routine should drive the specification.
